Meet the Doctors
Dr. Joseph C. Sullivan, D.D.S.
Dr. Sullivan grew up in San Marcos. After graduating from San Marcos High School, he attended Southwest Texas State University. He went on to study dentistry at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1976
After graduation, Dr. Sullivan served in the United States Air Force for four years. During this time Dr. Sullivan advanced his education and clinical skills in periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, anesthesia, restorative dentistry, and endodontics by completing a residency program at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. After completing his military commitment at Malmstrom AFB, Montana, Dr. Sullivan returned to his hometown of San Marcos, in 1980, to again make it his home and establish his dental practice.
Dr. Sullivan is continually furthering his education as an active member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the River District Dental Society. His community is also very important to him and he has been involved in many aspects of it. He has been a member of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce since 1980 and has served on its Board of Directors. He is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Greater San Marcos, has served on the board of directors for the Heritage Association of San Marcos, and has spent many years coaching youth athletics including soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball. He and his wife, Carol, are active members of First Baptist Church of San Marcos.
When Dr. Sullivan is not practicing dentistry, he enjoys family time with his wife, their daughter Lindsey, son-in-law Josh, son Seth, daughter-in-law Melissa, and most especially their granddaughter, Emily and grandson Grant. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, western art, Cooper’s barbeque, west Texas, and good country music.
Dr. Corey Carothers, D.D.S.
Dr. Carothers grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. After high school, he attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 2002 with a degree in Biomedical Science. Dr. Carothers received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2006 from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he received the Clinical Excellence Award.
Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Carothers was accepted to a post-doctoral residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. His advanced training had a strong clinical focus in aesthetics, dental materials, treatment planning and the clinical applications dealing with the medically compromised patient. Additionally, he holds a certification in Enteral Sedation.
Dr. Carothers is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and is currently an officer in the River District Dental Society.
In Dr. Carothers free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, his new little baby girl and doing anything that involves the outdoors.
